Seeing with Faith: Trusting When You Can't See the Whole Picture

John 20:26–31

Sometimes faith feels a little like standing blindfolded at the edge of a cliff...
and hearing your Father say,
"Jump. I’ve got you."

That’s how it must have felt for Thomas.
The other disciples told him Jesus was alive — but Thomas needed to see it for himself.

And you know what?
Jesus didn’t shame him for that.
He met Thomas exactly where he was.
Let him see.
Let him touch.
Let him believe.

When I was in elementary school, a pastor at chapel blindfolded his son and told him to jump out of a second-story window.
We were all horrified — but his son trusted him.
What none of us could see was that there was a roof just below the window.
The son couldn’t see it — but he believed his father’s heart.
So he jumped.

Faith isn't pretending you can see everything.
Faith is trusting the One who does.

Some things to think about:

  • Where is God asking you to trust Him right now, even though you can’t see the outcome?
  • What does Thomas' story teach you about how Jesus meets you in your doubts?
  • How can you rest more fully in believing before seeing?

Practicing Faith (this week):

Pick one thing you’re worried about — and every time fear rises, speak John 14:1 out loud.
Train your heart to believe first.

Memory Verse Challenge:

"Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me."
— John 14:1

A Prayer You Can Pray:
"Jesus, sometimes believing is hard. Doubt feels safer.
But I trust You more than I trust what I can see.
Help me jump when You say jump.
Help me believe before I see."
