Thumbing through my copy of Spurgeon's Lectures to My Students the other day, I happened upon a sentence I underlined in a previous reading: "The more you are on your knees alone the better." The context, of course, was prayer. Spurgeon was urging his students to spend time alone in God's presence praying. One way to keep our prayer lives fresh is to read prayers written by others.
