CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
ALISHA RIVERA, DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
Here at Crossroads, we love kids! Our Children's Ministry program strives to show
every child who comes to our Sunday morning and/or Midweek classes that:
During Sunday service, your child(ren) can participate in Nursery, Little SHINE!, SHINE!,
or Big SHINE! activities based on their age. In class, children have a Biblically based story/lesson, participate in age appropriate worship songs, activities and crafts,
all of which are specifically designed to work together to reinforce the weekly lesson.
OUR NURSERY MINISTRY
We know that your baby or toddler is forming their belief about God in every experience and in our nursery, we want to partner with families to express the love and care of Jesus even in the short time we see them. During their nursery time, our volunteers will be expressing God's love to infants and toddlers through simple songs and activities The toddlers enjoy playtime, story time and music.
Our caring volunteers want to help you feel comfortable to fully engage in the worship service as you entrust your child to us.

KID'S MINISTRY CORE VALUES
“‘.Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”Matthew 22:37-39, NIV This verse is our guiding verse for all of the lessons that are taught here at Crossroads. We want our children to grow up knowing God.
At Crossroads we use The Gospel Project for our Kid’s Ministry programs. The Gospel Project is a weekly
Bible study that helps kids dive deep into the big story of the Bible - God’s plan to rescue His people through
His Son, Jesus Christ. Watch this video: One Story Changes Everything: The Gospel Project for Kids
All of our SHINE! classes from Nursery to Big Shine will follow a three year chronological sequence of the Bible.
We will use Big Questions and Answers to help kids understand their faith and stand firm when these questions
arise about christianity. Key Passages will be used to help kids memorize Scripture and hold them close to their hearts and minds. Lastly, there is a Christ Connection in each lesson telling us how the Scripture points to Jesus
and the gospel.
For parents and families, The Gospel Project offers a resource designed to fuel family discipleship in your home in partnership with what kids are learning at church. Each week you will be provided with new Bible Story videos, Scripture to read, discussion points, worship songs, prayer prompts, and activities to do with your family at home and in your community; all that relates with what is being taught in SHINE!. Create an account at Ministry Grid and sign up with Alisha Rivera to receive our weekly SHINE! Emails with the links for the @Home Weekly content.
Here's an example of a Gospel Project unit
UNIT 1 OVERVIEW: IN THE BEGINNING 09.05.21 - 09.19.21
Unit Description: The story begins with God creating everything from nothing.
Of all of God’s perfect creation, people were most special, alone being made in God’s image.
All that God created was created to reveal God’s glory—how amazing He is.
Big Picture Question: Why did God create everything? God created everything for
His glory and our good.
Key Passage: The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim
the work of his hands. Psalm 19:1
Christ Connection: All of creation displays the glory of God - how great He is - although
not perfectly. The perfect revelation of God’s glory is found in Jesus, who came to show us
exactly what God is like. Because Jesus is God, He is the perfect display of God’s glory.
HOW CAN WE BEST HELP OUR KIDS WALK IN FAITH TODAY?
At Crossroads we strive to serve families and children in three ways:
By equipping parents to fulfill their calling to be the primary spiritual leaders of their kids
By becoming a community that embraces and includes young people in our fellowship, worship and mission
By creating safe, fun environments where kids can experience
God’s love, and discover what it means to follow Jesus.
