OUR BELIEFS

STATEMENT OF FAITH

  • We believe that the Bible, consisting of sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God, inerrant and infallible in its original language. We believe that the Bible constitutes the only perfect rule and final authority in all matters pertaining to Christian faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16 – 17)

  • We believe there is one God, perfect in love and righteous in all his ways, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  We believe in God the Father who is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love.  (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Peter 1:15)

  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, God’s eternal Son.  We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings.  We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, continuous intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth.  (Matthew 1:18 – 2:12; Acts 1:9 – 11; Acts 2:22 – 24; Romans 8:34)

  • We believe in the universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall, making man subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.  (Romans 3:23, 6:23)

  • We believe in the justification of the sinner solely by the grace of God through faith alone in Christ who is the only mediator between God and man.  We believe that repentance and faith are essential attitudes to be found in anyone who claims the blessings of salvation.  (Ephesians 2:8 – 9; Acts 20:21)

  • We believe in the Holy Spirit who was sent by the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, to regenerate those who are dead in sin and bring them to repentance, to instruct, comfort, sanctify, and empower God’s children.  (John 14:26; Acts 1:8; John 16:8)

  • We believe that the church, invisible and universal, is an organism of which Jesus Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members.  We hold it to be the mission of the Church of Christ to proclaim the gospel to all mankind.  We also believe that we are called to develop members who increasingly love God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength, who love their neighbor as themselves and who desire to glorify God in all things.  (Colossians 1:18; Matthew 28:19 – 20; Luke 10:27; Colossians 3:17)

  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the church, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.  We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.  (Acts 2:38; Acts 2: 42)

  • We believe in the unity and common priesthood of all believers, who together form the one universal Church.  Together with this body we look with faith for the triumph of righteousness and the life everlasting.  (1 Peter 2:9; Titus 2:13)

  • We believe in the imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ to take out His Bride the Church to be with Him forever.  We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal joy of the believers in a new heaven and earth without suffering and the eternal condemnation and conscious torment of the lost in hell.  (Matthew 24:42; Matthew 25:46; Revelation 14:11; Revelation 19:7; Hebrews 9:27; Matthew 13:41 – 43)
