"Afflicted For Our Own Good"
Since it's out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks, reading someone's personal correspondence provides a glimpse into what a person is truly like. For this reason, I enjoy reading the letters of pastors and theologians of previous eras--perhaps none more than John Newton. Today I'm sharing an article written by Christina Fox, who summarizes the contents of Newton's letter as he explains five fruits of affliction. Enjoy!
